This was my very first painting. I found a picture on the internet and thought, let me try to paint this, all while my children were busy in their own painting class. As I began, I felt a rekindled spark—a love for art and a creative ability I hadn’t realized was hidden so deeply within me.
But more than discovering my own talent, this painting became a way to connect with Kṛṣṇa, the All-Attractive. With each brushstroke, I felt closer to Him, as if the colors themselves were expressions of devotion. That first attempt opened a door not only to creativity but also to a deeper love, a new way to meditate, and a way to serve the Lord through the beauty of art.
This was the second painting I created. I had completed the painting of Lord Kṛṣṇa, but somehow it felt incomplete—something was missing. Then I realized it could not be whole without His eternal consort, Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, by His side. After all, who is the All-Attractive truly attracted to?
Painting Srimati Rādhārāṇī was not just a creative choice—it was a recognition of the inseparable love and divine connection between Them. Afterall, love can only grow on the foundation of a relationship.
In the month of Kārtik, we celebrate the mischievous pastimes of little Damodara—so why not let ourselves get a little inspired by His playful naughtiness? This painting captures the joy of this month with that adorable, mischievous smile. After all, devotion can be playful too! And on top of that, this was my very first attempt at watercolor—art can be fun, messy, and full of surprises, just like Damodar Himself!
Oh Śrī Nāthajī, You are my eternal shelter. When the waves of Māyā feel too strong, where else can I turn but to You? Your gentle glance, Your soft, reassuring smile—just remembering them lifts the fear from my heart. Please keep me always at the dust of Your lotus feet, held close, protected, and guided. There is no safer place, no sweeter refuge, than being sheltered by You.
